Motorist and other road users are currently stranded as heavy downpour wash away a bridge in Chilimina ward of Chililabombwe on the Copperbelt province.
Chililabombwe Mayor Lucky Sichone who inspected the area confirmed the development.
Sichone called for more collaborations between his office and that of the district administration to ensure that the bridge was worked on.
This is according to Chililabombwe Municipal Council (CMC) public relations officer Annedy Kangwa on Sunday.
Officersfrom the engineering department at the local authority are reportedly looking into the matter.
Sichone wanted works done in due time and described the situation as an emergency.

In addition, Chililabombwe District Commissioner Precious Njekwa assured the residents that resources would be mobilized to have the crossing point worked on.
Njekwa cautioned community members against allowing children to play near the flooded bridge as it would endanger their lives.
