Although he performed at the Stanbic Music Festival (SMF), Mulaza Kaira, widely known as Macky 2, has expressed support for his younger brother, Chef 187’s decision to withdraw from the event.
The two-day festival, featuring American artistes Omarion and Musiq Soulchild alongside local performers, faced criticism from some Zambian artistes who felt disrespected by the organisers.
Kara took to social media on Sunday to voice his concerns, stating, “Firstly, shout out to Chef 187 for speaking truth to power and highlighting the injustices that happen behind the scenes.”

He emphasized that Chef spoke for the entire industry. “To the Stanbic Music Festival, thank you for your continued support and inclusion of Zambian music.
I genuinely appreciate the platform, but I feel there should be a deliberate policy to ensure that even the local acts are treated accordingly,” Kaira added.
He pointed out what he considered unacceptable, saying, “We cannot have an inferiority complex. We can do better. We need to build capacity with our own people, and that will only happen when more interactions like this continue to happen.”
This discussion followed Chef 187’s response, which sparked mixed reactions from fans regarding his withdrawal.
While the artiste did not provide specific details, he mentioned, “This decision has not been made lightly but is a necessary response to the events that transpired earlier today,” expressing his stance on the matter.
