English Premier League giants, Manchester United, have agreed to sign Cameroonian goalkeeper, Andre Onana, from Inter Milan in a 55 million euro (£47.2m) deal.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United have reached an agreement after positive discussions with Inter in recent weeks and will pay 43.8 million pounds with a potential 3.4 million pounds in add-ons dependent on performance and success.

Manager Erik ten Hag identified Onana as his prime choice to replace David de Gea who recently left the club after his contract expired.

Onana, 27, is set to become United’s second signing of the summer after the 60 million pound Mason Mount.

The timing and location of his medical is not yet confirmed but the club are aiming for him to join the squad on their tour of the United States as soon as possible.

Club sources said they were pleased to add another top-quality player to the squad early in pre-season.

United and Inter have a productive relationship, having negotiated deals for Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez in the last four years with the assistance of intermediaries.

The imminent addition of Onana will take United’s spending up to £102m in up-front fees from a budget of around £120m. United intend to sign a striker and that investment will have to be underpinned by sales.

With Onana on the verge of completing the move, Dean Henderson is expected to be granted permission to join Nottingham Forest permanently.

Henderson expects to join Nottingham Forest permanently and Forest informed him two months ago of their intention to do a £30million deal with United.

United have maintained Henderson is an option to replace De Gea as No.1 but that is believed to be face-saving to maintain his resale value.
