Many illegal miners feared trapped in Chiwempala pits, Chingola

Reports say that many illegal miners may have been trapped at Chiwempala pits in Chingola as rescue teams struggle to retrieve miners submerged in water after a heavy down pour on Thursday night.

According to a Chingola- based online publication, The Independent Observer, sources stated that the pits had a number of caves (Amabwendo).

The rescue team under the Mine Safety Department are reportedly battling to retrieve the victims.
