A Barbra Banda brace was enough to ensure the Copper Queens overcame the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in their own back yard
The match was the first leg of back to back international friendly matches between Zambia and Morocco.
A 50th minute penalty and a 68th minute strike at Pere Jego Stadium in Casablanca was enough for Zambia to claim a two-nil victory.
The game sprung into life in the second half when Banda was judged to have been fouled in the box.
The forward stepped up to take the resultant penalty, making no mistake from 12 yards.
In the 68th minute of the match, Banda doubled the lead after impressively dribbling past defenders before dispatching a second.
Copper Queens Coach Bruce Mwape will use the friendlies to prepare for the 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship that will run from 4 October to 15 October.
Morocco, on the other hand, are using the friendlies to prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
The second match will take place at the Prince Moulay Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat on Tuesday next week.
