The absence of the star duo was hardly felt as Pep Guardiola’s men ran riot on Villa.

However, the Citizens are still third on the standings by two goals less than their lead, Liverpool.

The next three matches where Liverpool face off Sheffield on Thursday at Anfield, Manchester City face off Crystal Palace on Friday at Selhurst Park and Arsenal sees of Brighton on the same date at America Express Stadium will determine which team leads the chart.

In the meantime, Arsenal regained their winning form and reclaimed the top spot in the Premier League standings with a comfortable 2-0 win against Luton Town, who are facing relegation.

Their draw against Manchester City last Sunday interrupted a streak of eight consecutive victories, allowing Liverpool to overtake them.

Nonetheless, Arsenal found their rhythm again at the Emirates Stadium, despite missing Bukayo Saka and having several key players on the bench.

On the other hand, Brighton & Hove Albion failed to seize the opportunity to move up to seventh place as they played out a goalless draw against Brentford, who are distancing themselves from the relegation zone.

Despite dominating possession and creating better chances at the Gtech Community Stadium, Brighton’s hopes for European qualification took a hit as Brentford managed to hold on for a draw.

IvanToney came closest to scoring for Brentford, who are now winless in eight Premier League matches.

Thomas Frank’s team, now six points clear of relegation, maintained their 15th position, while Brighton remained in ninth place, just two points behind West Ham United in seventh.
