The Police Command in Lusaka today deployed officers with anti-riot armoured vehicles to the Patriotic Front (PF) Secretariat to stop a possible protest from some youths.

The move followed a request by a youth based in the United Kingdom to protest in solidarity with the PF starting from Kafue Roundabout to the Secretariat.

The Edgar Lungu-led PF Spokesperson, Emmanuel Mwamba, who rushed to the Secretariat, said the party had no intentions of holding a protest nor was it aware of such a move apart from social media reports.

Mwamba stated that the party never scheduled a meeting for today and that Police were responding to the video on social media issued by a Charles Kakula.

He said the party would keep monitoring the situation and that Zambians would be informed of any changes.

“To our party members aluta continues. The PF is one and we shall ensure that it is reclaimed by the rightful owners as the matters are being dealt with by the Courts of law,” Mwamba stated.

He reiterated that there was an attack on democracy and that the PF would ensure that this was restored once re-elected into office come 2026.

Mwamba claimed that the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) planned to turn Zambia into a one party state.

“We have seen the injustice the PF have gone through under the UPND Government”.
