Bongo Flava award-winning artiste, Diamond Platnumz, during the launch of the Wasafi Festival 2024, expressed his aspiration to become the richest man in the world.

Already one of Africa’s wealthiest musicians, Diamond hinted at launching a new product that could significantly boost his net worth.

However, he is currently far from being ranked among the world’s top ten richest individuals. To achieve his ambitious goal, Diamond Platnumz would need to surpass several billionaires, both in Africa and globally, as highlighted by Mpasho media.

Here is a look at the billionaires Diamond must outdo:

1. Johann Rupert – Africa’s leading billionaire with a net worth of US$10.3 billion, Rupert recently replaced Aliko Dangote as the continent’s richest individual. The South African tycoon has amassed his wealth through luxury goods and ranks 147th on the global billionaire list.

2. Aliko Dangote – With a net worth of US$9.5 billion, Dangote, whose fortune is rooted in the sugar and cement industries, is ranked 228th globally. His company, Dangote Group, is one of Africa’s largest conglomerates, with operations across West Africa including Benin, Ghana, Zambia, and Togo.

3. Nicky Oppenheimer & Family – Worth US$8.3 billion, Oppenheimer’s wealth stems from the diamond industry. The South African billionaire is ranked 283rd worldwide.

4. Nassef Sawiris – Ranked fourth on the African list, Sawiris has a net worth of US$7.4 billion, accumulated through construction and investments. He stands at 345th globally.

5. Abdulsamad Rabiu – From Nigeria, Rabiu has built a fortune of US$5.9 billion in the cement and sugar sectors, placing him 489th on the global billionaire ranking.

On the global stage, Diamond Platnumz would have to outpace the world’s wealthiest individuals:

1. Elon Musk – Leading with US$247 billion, Musk is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and holds the top spot as the world’s richest person.

2. Jeff Bezos – The Amazon chairman boasts a net worth of US$197 billion, ranking second globally. Bezos also developed Blue Origin, a private space exploration company.

3. Bernard Arnault – With a fortune of US$189 billion, Arnault, CEO and chairman of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), ranks third globally. His children are deeply involved in the expansive Louis Vuitton empire.
