Alleged Espionage: Former PF Secretary-General, Nakacinda, to face trial at High Court

Patriotic Front Secretary-General, Raphael Nakacinda, accused of espionage has been committed to the Lusaka High Court for trial.

Magistrate Kawama Mwamfuli confirmed on Thursday that she was in receipt of the certificate of committal to the High Court issued by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Gilbert Phiri.

She, therefore, proceeded to commit Nakacinda to the High Court as mespionage was not triable by the subordinate court.

Nakacinda, who has been on bail is facing one count of espionage contrary to the State Securities Act Chapter 111 of the Laws of Zambia.

Allegations are that Nakacinda, on an unknown date but between August 26 and September 16, 2023, in Lusaka, jointly and whilst acting together with others unknown for any purpose prejudicial to the safety or interests of the Republic in a Documentary which was published and communicated on different media platforms titled “The Grand Regional Scheme : How Foreign Powers and Local elites are destroying Africa Part 1” did give information which might be or is intended to be directly or indirectly useful to a foreign power or disaffected person.
