Afreximbank, in partnership with the African Union Commission and the AfCFTA Secretariat, has announced the launch of the African Research and Innovation Hub @IATF to promote intra-African trade and industrialisation.

The hub will debut at the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025), set for September 2025, in Algiers, Algeria.

According to a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday, the research hub aims to connect researchers, students, and lecturers from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Diaspora with industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to commercialise innovative ideas.

Kanayo Awani, Afreximbank’s Executive Vice President for Intra-African Trade and Export Development, described the hub as a key platform for showcasing research, prototypes, and publications while fostering collaboration between academia and industry.

“The African Research and Innovation Hub @IATF will bridge the gap between research and real-world application, supporting Africa’s trade and industrialisation goals,” Awani said.

Participants will present projects for evaluation by a panel of experts based on innovation, relevance, and practical application.
