Access Bank Zambia has announced a K300,000 co-sponsorship for the 2024 CBL Charity Shield season opener in the Zambian Premier League calendar.
The Charity Shield is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Access Bank Managing Director, Lishala Situmbeko, in a statement issued on Friday, said that the bank had doubled its support from the K150,000 provided last year.
The tournament would make history with the introduction of women’s participation for the first time in its 67-year history.

Situmbeko said that including women’s teams marked a significant step toward promoting gender equality and empowering women in sports.
“Our support for the tournament aligns with our commitment to supporting not only sports but also women across all sectors through the W-Initiative,” Situmbeko stated. “This initiative focuses on capacity building, mentorship, and financial inclusion aimed at accelerating female entrepreneurship.”
He added that the increased sponsorship underscored the bank’s dedication to the growth and development of Zambian football and the success of the event.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the organizers, participants, and supporters who make the Charity Shield a resounding success each year,” Situmbeko concluded.
