Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Head of Corporate Communication and Public Relations, Timothy Moono, has denied claims by Patriotic Front (PF) faction Secretary General, Raphael Nakacinda, that President Hakainde Hichilema ordered the ACC to raid former President Edgar Lungu’s residence.
Testifying in Nakacinda’s case—where he is charged with seditious practices—Moono stated that the ACC operates independently and does not take instructions from anyone.
He recalled watching a video on the PF’s Facebook page in which Nakacinda made the allegations.
After consulting the ACC’s Acting Director-General, he confirmed that no such raid had taken place.
Moono then issued a press statement clarifying that the ACC had no inquiry against Lungu and dismissing Nakacinda’s claims as misleading.
During cross-examination, Nakacinda’s defense team challenged Moono’s eligibility to testify, citing Section 17(2) of the ACC Act, which restricts officers from providing evidence in court.
The case has been adjourned to March 21 for ruling.
