Ecobank Zambia has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by sponsoring the upcoming Land-Linked Conference.

Ecobank Zambia Head of Trade, Fabiano Zulu, said the sponsorship underscores the bank’s dedication to fostering regional trade and investment.

Speaking at the cheque handover to Africast, the conference host, at the bank’s headquarters in Lusaka on Friday, Zulu emphasized the significance of such fora in unlocking opportunities along key transport corridors, including the Lobito Corridor.

“The conference will provide a platform to explore opportunities within the Lobito Corridor and other vital transport routes across Africa, which are critical for promoting trade and economic integration,” Zulu stated.

He noted that the bank’s participation reflected its broader mission of providing innovative financing solutions, liquidity, and transactional support, leveraging its extensive Pan-African network.

“The Land-Linked Conference is expected to attract over 600 delegates from 17 African countries. Ecobank has a presence in eight of the participating nations—Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, and Zambia—further showcasing our regional reach,” he added.

Africast Chief Executive Officer, Chimwemwe Nyirenda, revealed that confirmed delegate numbers had risen from last year.

Nyirenda also noted that exhibitor participation had grown with 60 exhibitors confirmed, while the number of participating countries had grown from eight in 2024 to 21 this year.
