Court messenger killed in Chingola by man who allegedly reneged on child support responsibilities

Prudence Nkomesha, a Chingola based court messenger has reportedly been murdered by Francis Mwamba who is on the run .

The deceased sustained a cut on the head, swollen forehead as a bamboo log was used in the act.

Copperbelt Police Chief, Peacewell Mweemba, said brief facts of the matter were that the suspect and the wife had a marital dispute and took the matter to Chingola Local Court where they were divorced.

“The husband was ordered by court to be paying a monthly fee of K500, he paid some months then defaulted one month,” he said.

This made the wife report back the matter to the Local Court where a warrant to arrest Mwamba was issued.

On 18 March, 2025 around 09:00 hours, the suspect was taken to court where the court ordered two female court messengers namely Nkomesha, the deceased, and Caren Mwansa to take him to the Police.

On the way, Mwamba allegedly got a bamboo log and hit the deceased on the head, inflicting the stated injuries.

She was later rushed to Nchanga North General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The matter was reported to the Police who rushed to the Hospital and inspected the body and found the said injuries.

“The body has been deposited to the mortuary at Nchanga North General Hospital awaiting for Postmortem examination to be conducted,” he said.

Suspect is still on the run.
