The Football Association of Zambia in Central Province has completed the line up for the next four years with Ernest Silomba elected as Vice Chairperson and Francis Mweete elected as Youth Representative.

During elections held in Kabwe at Urban Bliss Hotel, Silomba got 25 votes while Chirwa polled 15 with Mweete getting 22 ahead of Kennedy Mataa who received 18.

With this election, the line up for Central Province executive committee has been completed with Chisanga Pule as Chairperson, Frank Nyambe as Committee member and Joyce Mwandila as women representative going through unopposed.

The focus would now shift to North Western Province where councillors will elect their leadership on Tuesday.

FAZ has so far held elections in Southern, Lusaka and Central province.

In the morning of Monday, AGM opened with Provincial Minister, Mwabashike Nkulukusa, hailing FAZ for the great strides made in growing the women’s game.

“We thank the Central Province executive committee for creating structures for the women’s league across the province. The establishment of district women’s leagues in seven districts which shows commitment in providing equal opportunities for men and women,” he said.

In a speech read on his behalf by Deputy Permanent Secretary Godfrey Chitambala, Nkulukusa said the government was happy with the way the game had been organized in the province.

Meanwhile, FAZ president Andrew Kamanga congratulated Central Province for repeatedly providing players for various developmental teams.

Kamanga noted that Central Province had consistently provided players for national teams especially junior teams.

“Through decentralization, we have seen talent scouts from the provinces unearth players for the various national teams. It is not a secret that Central Province has regularly provided players for our various national teams especially junior teams,” he said.

Similary, FAZ Central Province chairperson, Chisanga Pule, says the last four years had seen the province set up structures for the women’s league in new districts.

Pule, who has been re-elected unopposed said the outgoing leadership had fought hard to change the face of Central Province football.

“We inherited a very huge province where teams were moving from Chitambo with some moving as far as Itezhi Tezhi to play their games,” he said.

Aspiring FAZ presidential candidates, Adrian Kashala and Keith Mweemba, were in Kabwe attending the AGM as observers.
