Zambia has reaffirmed its dedication to democracy, good governance, and international cooperation during the 68th Meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) held at Marlborough House in London.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, represented Zambia at the meeting, which was chaired by Dr. Ian Borg, Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism.

According to a statement by Eva Hatontola, Principal Public Relations Officer at the Ministry, Zambia continues to play an active role in promoting democratic values, human rights, and regional and global stability, which remain key pillars of its foreign policy.

Hatontola stated Zambia’s commitment to multilateral engagements that uphold these principles while fostering stronger diplomatic and economic ties.

Haimbe joined fellow ministers in commending the Commonwealth Secretariat’s efforts in strengthening democratic institutions, electoral processes, and human rights across member states.

Additionally, Zambia reiterated its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all Commonwealth nations, aligning with its broader commitment to peace and stability.

“By actively engaging in high-level discussions on governance, electoral integrity, and the rule of law, Zambia reinforces its role as a champion of democratic values,” Hatontola said.

She further noted that Zambia’s engagement within the Commonwealth enhances opportunities for economic collaboration, investment, and technical support from international partners, aligning with the country’s broader economic objectives.

“As the world navigates complex political and economic challenges, Zambia remains firm in its commitment to global governance forums such as CMAG,” Hatontola added.
