In a bid to align the Food Security Pack (FSP) programme with the evolving needs of communities, the government has emphasized strict adherence to programme guidelines by officers.

This is according to Director for Community Development, Changano Ngoi.

He explained that revised guidelines aimed to improve targeting and implementation efficiency, ultimately strengthening household food security for vulnerable farming households across the country.

The FSP is administered under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services.

Ngoi described the programme as a key strategy in promoting national food security. He emphasized that reviewing and validating submissions for the 2019 FSP guidelines was a critical step in addressing current community needs.

Speaking during the validation meeting at Government Complex in Lusaka on Tuesday, Ngoi underscored the importance of following established guidelines for effective implementation.

“This programme is at the heart of our nation’s food security strategy. It is imperative that we work within the stipulated guidelines to ensure its success for the well-being of our citizens,” he stated.

Ngoi also commended the dedication of ministry officers at all levels and urged them to uphold transparency and accountability, stressing that these principles are vital to the government’s development agenda and the welfare of vulnerable communities.

At the same event, Director of Internal Audit, Julius Mwanza, called on officers to maintain integrity in implementing the programme, which had reportedly empowered over 490,000 beneficiaries in 2024 by improving responsiveness and performance.

Additionally, Director of Information Communication Technology (ICT) David Phiri assured that the programme’s efficiency would improve once it was fully migrated to an automated system in line with the ministry’s digitization agenda.
