President Hakainde Hichilema has urged the newly reconstituted Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Board to work diligently in restoring public trust in the institution.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at State House on Thursday, President Hichilema emphasized the need for thorough investigations before arrests are made to prevent unnecessary inconveniences and embarrassment.

He called on the new ACC Board, led by retired Judge Evans Hamaundu, to ensure its work contributes to national development and economic growth.

“I wish to remind you that national unity is the foundation of our development. Our collective goal is to grow the economy, create jobs, and boost business opportunities for all our people,” President Hichilema said.

The Head of State also cautioned against tribalism and regionalism, warning that such divisions hinder progress and fairness.

He stressed that Zambia’s national assets and resources belonged to all citizens, not specific tribes or regions.

“Zambia needs to reunite and focus on economic development. This can be achieved by growing the economy and ensuring equitable resource distribution,” Hichilema said.

He pointed to the government’s equitable allocation of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) across all 156 constituencies, 116 districts, and 10 provinces as a demonstration of fairness in resource distribution.

President Hichilema further highlighted the country’s economic progress, including efforts to restore mining operations and drive economic growth.
