The Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development (MMMD) has reportedly launched the Zambia Integrated Mining Information System (ZIMIS), a digital platform aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and governance in the country’s mining sector.

Ministry Permanent Secretary, Dr. Hapenga Kabeta, described the system as a game-changer in mining license management, offering stakeholders a seamless and user-friendly platform for transactions.

“The system is designed to streamline processes, reduce administrative bottlenecks, and ensure greater accountability across the sector,” Kabeta said in a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday.

As part of the transition, the current Trimble Landfolio Cadastre System would be decommissioned on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

The newly developed ZIMIS would officially go live on Thursday, and would be accessible via the Government Service Bus (GSB).

“From this date onward, only transactions processed through ZIMIS will be considered valid. Stakeholders are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new system and take advantage of its enhanced features,” Kabeta added.

He called on industry players, partners, and the public to embrace this digital transformation milestone, which aimed to modernise mining sector operations and improve service delivery.
