Giant Mineral Fields, African Holdings Limited reportedly partner to explore Copperbelt mineral resources

A strategic partnership to explore mineral resources across three licence areas on the Copperbelt has reportedly been formed between Giant Mineral Fields (GMF) and African Holdings Limited (AHL).

GMF is described as a global mineral exploration company, while AHL is reportedly a joint venture between Curprite Geo-services Limited (Curprite), a Zambian-based geological services firm, and Menel Energy and Resources, a local mining investment company.

According to a statement issued Thursday, the partnership’s exploration activities will include geochemical and geophysical surveys as well as targeted drilling campaigns to assess the mineral potential of the licensed areas.

These methods are expected to generate critical data for future development plans.

GMF interim Chief Executive Officer, Brian Kiernan, said the collaboration underscored a commitment to unlocking Zambia’s mineral wealth and accelerating new copper production.

“We are excited to work with Curprite Geo-services Limited, a company with deep expertise and local knowledge of Zambia’s geological landscape,” Kiernan claimed.

Under the agreement, GMF was expected to conduct copper exploration activities on three licences in Zambia—33445-HQ-LEL, 33446-HQ-LEL, and 33449-HQ-LEL—which have been identified as having substantial copper deposit potential based on their location on the Copperbelt.

The partnership reportedly sees this as an opportune time to support Zambia’s mining sector, citing government plans to triple copper production, policy incentives for private sector exploration, and international backing for the Lobito Corridor, Africa’s first transcontinental rail network aimed at enhancing copper-cobalt trade.

Curprite Chief Executive Officer, Trust Hatuma, described the agreement as a reflection of global interest in Zambia’s revitalized mining sector.

“We are proud to contribute our expertise to this project, which promises to bring significant benefits to the local economy and the broader mining community,” Hatuma said.
