Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president, Andrew Kamanga, has urged the Zambian Premier League (ZPL) to find ways to generate more income for the league to ensure that clubs have more resources to compete at the highest levels.
Kamanga, speaking during the ZPL board meeting on Wednesday in Lusaka at Football house, urged the league to explore new revenue-generation avenues, particularly aiming to secure more funds for the clubs.
“We need to find ways to generate more income for the league. This will ensure that our clubs have more resources to compete at the highest levels,” he said.
He also reiterated his commitment to supporting its growth, highlighting initiatives such as the provision of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to clubs, which aims to improve player performance and management.
Kamanga also commended the ZPL for its efforts since becoming independent, emphasising the importance of self-sufficiency for the league’s continued success.
Meanwhile, ZPL chairperson, Kephas Katongo, expressed his appreciation for Kamanga’s bold decision to separate the league from FAZ.
Katongo noted that since the de-linking, there has been significant progress in various areas, and he is confident about the league’s future.
