Matero constituency reportedly secures K17.6 million for 2025 CDF community projects

The government has approved the disbursement of K17,621,957.95 for the implementation of community projects under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for Matero Constituency.

Lusaka City Council Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nyambe Bulumba, said the funding would facilitate the execution of 13 community projects across all five wards in the constituency, aimed at improving public infrastructure and services.

In Muchinga Ward 28, three projects have reportedly been approved, including the expansion of the Matero Recreation Centre at a total cost of K1,500,000.

The construction of the Matero Girls Secondary School bridge had been allocated K823,734.80, while K1.2 million was set aside for the purchase and installation of a refrigerator and shelves at the Matero Hospital mortuary.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday, Bulumba in Lima Ward 30, the government approved the construction of a railside near Katambalala Market at a cost of K1,700,000.

Additionally, streetlights would be installed along Katambalala Market Road for K404,754.15, and K260,000 had been allocated for the drilling and installation of a joint water reticulation system.

Matero Ward 32 would benefit from the construction of a 1×3 classroom block at Kasamba Secondary School, which would be undertaken at a total cost of K2,390,000.

Several projects have also reportedly been approved in Mwembeshi Ward, including the purchase of land for the construction of Mwembeshi Secondary School at K4,633,250.

Bulumba stated that the construction of Chunga Market had been allocated K230,219, while K1,250,000 would be spent on building a wall fence for Chunga Clinic.

Additionally, K870,000 had been set aside for the completion of the Mwembeshi Main Police Post.

In Kapwepwe Ward 29, K2 million was allocated for the construction of a Skills Development Centre, and K360,000 would be used for the supply and installation of streetlights.

Bulumba emphasized that the projects aim to enhance the lives of Matero Constituency residents by improving access to education, healthcare, security, and public amenities.

He assured that the Lusaka City Council remained committed to overseeing the implementation of all approved projects with high standards of quality and within the agreed timeframes.

According to Bulumba, the Lusaka Provincial Local Government Officer approved the projects following a request from the constituency for development initiatives.

He added that the council would ensure accountability and efficiency in the execution of these projects to bring meaningful change to the people of Matero.
