President Hakainde Hichilema has urged investors from Turkey, Kenya, and the United Kingdom (UK) to explore opportunities in Zambia, particularly in the mining sector, to bolster economic cooperation and create jobs for the country’s youthful population.

Speaking at State House in Lusaka on Tuesday during the presentation of letters of credence from newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners of Kenya, Turkey, and the UK, President Hichilema emphasized Zambia’s focus on value addition, capital mobilization, and job creation.

“Zambia remains committed to strengthening and deepening its historical ties and shared interests with these nations,” Hichilema stated, encouraging the envoys to build on the existing bilateral relationships.

President Hichilema highlighted Zambia’s collaboration with Kenya and Ghana in advocating for reforms to make capital more accessible and affordable for African nations.

He also stressed the importance of promoting peace, security, and stability in Zambia, the region, and globally.

“There is a need for open communication, dialogue, and mutual support to drive economic and social development,” he said.

The President urged the new ambassadors and high commissioners to prioritize cooperation over conflict.

“We must work together to make the world spend less money on conflict and instead focus on meaningful cooperation anchored on specific projects and programs,” Hichilema said.

The Head of State also reiterated Zambia’s readiness to deepen economic and diplomatic ties while fostering sustainable development through partnerships with these nations.
