President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed retired Supreme Court Judge Evans Hamaundu as Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Board Chairperson subject to ratification.
According to a statement by State House Chief Communication Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, the President has also named Kaumbu Mwondela as Vice Chairperson subject to ratification.
Others appointed on the Board include gender activist, Engwase Mwale, Jack Kalala and Nalucha Ziba as commissioners of the ACC, also subject to parliamentary ratification.
Hamasaka said in a statement on Friday said Daphne Chabu had been appointed Director General.
“The President has in exercise of powers vested in him in Section 9(2) of the ACC Act No.3 of 2012 appointed Mrs Daphne Chabu as Director General of the ACC subject to ratification by the National Assembly,” he said.
Hamasaka said the President was wishing the newly appointed commissioners all the best.
The ACC had been operated without a substantive Director General and a board for at least six months since the Musa Mwenye-led board of commissioners was kicked out, alongside Director General Tom Shamakamba which raised eyebrows among cooperating partners.
