Four employees of Chipata Level One Hospital in Lusaka have been ordered to defend themselves against allegations of stealing COVID-19 kits worth over K2.8 million.
The accused include Judith Dzekedzeke, 46, and Langson Kampango, 54, both biomedical technicians; Malama Nkhata, 44, a driver; and Hilton Kasanyika, 28, a station handyman.

They face two charges of theft by a public servant and theft, with prosecutors alleging that they stole COVID-19 kits valued at K2,834,777, the property of the Zambian government, between January 1, 2022, and March 30, 2023.
Lusaka Magistrate Anna Holland ruled that the state had presented sufficient evidence to establish a prima facie case, setting January 29, 2025, as the date for the accused to begin their defense.
