Zambia is scheduled forheavy downpour and strong winds in Northern, Eastern and Western parts of the country at the weekend and beyond, according to Zambia Meteorological Department weekend weather forecast released on Sunday.
The statement said Eastern, Muchinga, Northern, Luapula, Copperbelt, Central and North-Western provinces would experience heavy rainfall with heavier falls in the Western half of the country.
Going forward, the department said Central, Muchinga, Southern, Western, North-Western, Copperbelt, Muchinga and Luapula would have widespread rainfall.
“The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, through the Zambia Meteological Department and the Disaster Management and Mitigation (DMMU) was closely monitoring Tropical Clyclone Chido,” it stated.

While the direct impact of the Clyclone in Zambia was unlikely, the department observed that its direct influence, combined with other weather systems was expected to bring a lot of rainfall and strong winds to various regions across the country.
In terms of current situation, Tropical Clyclone Chido is in Mozambique Channel which is expected to make rainfall in Mozambique on December 15, 2024 which will weaken into low pressure system and more westward, impacting weather over Zambia.
