In a move seen as cleansing the Ministry of Health of inefficiencies, President Hakainde Hichilema has fired Health Permanent Secretary, Christopher Simoonga, who was allegedly at the centre of controversy.
Energy permanent secretary and Foreign Affairs and International Relations permanent secretaries, Francesca Zyambo, and Hope Situmbeko, also have their contracts terminated.
According to a statement by State House Chief Communication Specialist Clayson Hamasaka on Friday, the decisions were pursuant to Article 270 of the Constitution of Zambia.

“The President thanks officials for their service rendered to the Government and wishes them well in their future endeavors, “Hamasaka said.
In the same vein, President Hichilema appointed, Anold Simwaba, as the Permanent Secretary – Electricity in the Ministry of Energy and appointed Louis Mulube as Permanent Secretary at the Public Service Management Division while transferring Zakaria Luhanga to the Ministry of Labour.
“The President has also transferred Margret Miyoba to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of administration,” he said.
