Zambia has been crowned COSAFA U17 Girls’ champions after a record-breaking performance in a game that saw the girls thrash Lesotho 15-0.
The Copper Princesses are now the most successful side at the COSAFA under 17 Girls Championship with two trophies.
The girls opened their score sheet in the 4th minute into the game with a goal coming from Masela Sekeseke with an assist from Captain Mercy Chipasula.
The second goal came in the 6th minute from Hellen Banda from a Sekeseke assist and Captain Chipasula netted the 3rd goal in the 9th minute and the 4th goal in the 16th minute of the game.
Chipasula continued with her scoring streak when she netted the 5th goal after she converted a spot kick to make it her ninth goal of the Tournament.
In the 42nd minute, Lillian Mwenda scored her first goal of the Tournament off a chipasula assist to give Zambia 6 and Lesotho Zero.
Chipasula scored her fourth goal from a Sekeseke assist to make it 7 for Zambia and Lesotho Zero.
The 8th goal came in the 54th minute with the 9th goal coming in the 57th minute and goal number 1 in the 60th minute.
The girls continued with their soring streak after Captain Chipasula made a double hat trick in the 63rd minute with a goal making Zambia have 11 goal and Lesotho Zero.
The 12th Goal came from Helen Banda with the 13 coming from Lillian Mwenda and 14th goal from substitute Janet Chirwa.
WendyMwikiisa increased the goals for Zambia to 15 in the 85th minute to seal the win and have Zambia crowned as champions.

Meanwhile, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has congratulated the Under-17 Women National Team for winning the 2024 Cosafa Championship.
FAZ president, Andrew Kamanga, said the victory of the Under-17 girls re-affirms growth of the women’s game in Zambia.
“A big congratulations to the girls and the technical bench for winning the Cosafa crown. The seeds we have been sowing over the years are beginning to bear fruit and the second phase of the plan is to sustain this growth and take it to the next level,” says Kamanga.
The Copper Princesses won the Player of the Tournament, Goalkeeper of the Tournament and Top Scorer accolades through Mercy Chipasula and Lovesness Chingwere.
