Zambia crushes Zimbabwe 5-1 at COSAFA U-17 championship

JOHANNESBURG – Zambia’s Under-17 girls’ football team delivered a stunning 5-1 victory over Zimbabwe at the ongoing COSAFA U-17 Girls Championship in South Africa.

The win marked the Copper Princesses’ second consecutive dominant performance, following a 3-0 triumph over Botswana in their opening match at the UJ Stadium on Thursday.

In their match against Botswana, Zambia demonstrated control and precision throughout.

Mercy Chipasula opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a spectacular long-range strike, leaving the Botswana goalkeeper helpless.

Natasha Nkaka extended Zambia’s lead in the 64th minute with a well-placed header from a corner kick, while Hellen Banda sealed the win in the 90th minute, finishing off a swift counter-attack with a composed strike into the bottom corner.

Zambia’s commanding performances have solidified their position as strong contenders in the tournament, showcasing excellent teamwork, technique, and resilience.
