Landlord arrested for alleged rape of tenant in Chingola

Chingola police have apprehended a 39-year-old landlord,identified as Mark Sinkala,for allegedly raping his 21-year-old tenant.

Copperbelt Police Chief, Peacewell Mweemba, confirmed the incident, which occurred around 21:00 hours on Saturday.

According to police, the victim, who had returned from a drinking spree, fell asleep in her house, leaving the door open.

“She was awakened by the penetration of the suspect’s pen*s and, upon realizing it was her landlord, she screamed for help,” said Mweemba.

Neighbours apprehended Sinkala, and the matter was reported to Kasompe Police Post.

A case docket has been opened, and the suspect is in custody, according to the police.
