The Ministry of Technology and Science has said Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) institutions across Zambia have enrolled about 100,000 students.

Acting Ministry Permanent Secretary, Milner Makuni, said this had been supported by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) which had been instrumental in driving the expansion of TEVET institutions across Zambia.

Makuni said at a media briefing on Thursday at his office in Lusaka that the CDF allocation had provided a much-needed boost to TEVET education by funding the construction of new facilities, the renovation of existing structures and the procurement of advanced equipment.

He announced that TEVETA would conduct the TEVET examinations from December 4 to 20, 2024 in response to the remarkable growth in TEVET institutions across the country and the increased number of students pursuing vocational training.

“Government has been implementing a series of strategic interventions to promote skills development among the country’s youth including persons with disabilities as a means of driving economic transformation,” he said.
He reaffirms government’s commitment to ensuring that the country’s skilled workforce remains relevant, employable and capable of contributing to the nation’s economic transformation.

Makuni further urged candidates to avoid examination malpractice at all costs, while also calling on TEVETA staff to maintain the highest standards of integrity during the examination period.
