The government has issued a directive to developers along Great East Road whose structures are within 60 meters of the highway, to relocate as they are encroaching on the road reserve.

Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Sylvia Masebo, also cautioned Kampasa residents in Chongwe against invading Galuannia Farms, warning that police have been deployed to maintain order in the area.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in Lusaka, Tuesday, Masebo clarified that no land titles have been issued in the area for the past 50 years.

“A notice has been given to Chongwe Municipal Council and the Ministry to ensure all developments near the Airport Road are cancelled, as the road is set to be expanded into a dual carriageway,” Masebo said.

The minister further declared that all unauthorized land creations within the State Lodge title are illegal and will be revoked, with any developments subject to demolition.

“In this regard, there will be no more creations in the State Lodge area, and any recent developments will be scrutinized,” she stated.

Masebo directed planning authorities to submit plans aligned with the Urban and Regional Planning Act of 2025 and warned against approving low-cost housing in high-cost residential zones like State Lodge.

The government’s actions aim to restore order and enforce adherence to urban planning regulations in Lusaka and Chongwe.
