The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) has warned that officers and heads of procurement units failing to fully implement the Electronic Government Procurement (E-GP) system will face sanctions.
ZPPA Acting Director-General, Justin Matimuna, emphasized that adherence to the E-GP system was mandated under Section 16 of the Public Procurement Act.
He directed all officers and procurement heads to ensure that public procurements were conducted exclusively on the platform.
Speaking at a quarterly briefing held at ZPPA offices on Friday, Matimuna revealed that the authority had been actively promoting the use of the E-GP system to enhance transparency and accountability.

“In the third quarter of this year, 14,732 tenders from 431 procuring entities were published on the E-GP system. Additionally, we trained 10 procuring entities from the Copperbelt, Southern, and Lusaka provinces,” he said.
Matimuna added that virtual workshops and training sessions had equipped 980 suppliers from six provinces—Copperbelt, Luapula, Muchinga, Northern, North-Western, and Southern—with the skills to use the E-GP system effectively.
He reiterated ZPPA’s commitment to ensuring public funds were used efficiently and in compliance with procurement regulations.
