Leading initiatives that aim to break patriarchal systems and end cycles of violence against women, Tendai Thokozile Miti, has dedicated her firm to set up innovations to equip them with valuable skills for the future.
She would be part of a series of lightning talks on the intersection of technology with art and culture, climate justice, disability justice, gender justice and philanthropy at the Mozillar event in Zambia.
Miti, the Executive Director of Sistah Sistah, said among the organisation’s innovative programmes, the firm taught coding and programming to young girls in vulnerable situations.
This included visually impaired girls, equipping them with valuable skills for the future, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
Additionally, a recreational therapy initiative provided survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) with alternative therapeutic outlets through creative expression.
“With a background in Business Management, Public Service Management Accountability and Development, and Gender Studies, Tendai has further honed her expertise through programs like the African Feminist Academy for Climate Justice and the African Feminist Macroeconomist Academy, including the Public Service Accountability Management course with Rhodes University,” the statement stated.
Granville Wood,a Director of Strategic Partnerships at Open Energy Labs, would also be part of the summit.
Granville brought a background in computer systems engineering, renewable energy, and government relations, playing a crucial role in linking the company to key stakeholders across public and private sectors, fostering partnerships that support the company’s mission and projects.
