More than 100 schools across Zambia have reportedly been connected to the internet through a partnership between Airtel and UNICEF, aimed at accelerating digital learning nationwide.
This initiative reportedly supports the country’s efforts to integrate digital tools into education by providing free access to the Learning Passport, a UNICEF-led online educational platform.
In a statement released Wednesday, Airtel and UNICEF highlighted that the partnership also focused on inclusive education, ensuring digital learning access for students with disabilities.
As part of the initiative, Airtel and UNICEF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, recently conducted a blended learning training session for 50 teachers from Eastern, Lusaka, and Southern Provinces.
The training introduced teachers to the Learning Passport platform and maximised router usage at each school.
During the training, Brenda Musanya, representing the Ministry of Education’s Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (DODE), urged teachers to safeguard the provided routers and make full use of the session to clarify any concerns about maintaining connectivity at their schools.
