Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Rose Kashembe Sakala, has called for enhanced relations between Zambia and Ethiopia, emphasising the crucial role of private sector involvement in promoting development.

Speaking at the Zambia @60 Trade and Investment Forum in Addis Ababa, Sakala highlighted the importance of reinforcing Zambia-Ethiopia ties through active private sector participation.

She noted that a focus on business cooperation had been a core priority, as reflected in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2017.

The forum’s objectives include facilitating trade and interaction between Ethiopian and Zambian businesses, encouraging joint ventures, and showcasing Zambia’s investment opportunities.

Additionally, it aims to provide a networking platform across sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and mining, while fostering information exchange on trade and market access.

Representing the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) was Chief Executive Officer, Elvin Joseph Nasilele, who praised the strength of both business communities.

He expressed confidence that the connections made would lead to significant collaborations.

“The discussions on investment opportunities in Zambia and Ethiopia were enriched by expert insights, and I believe these will have a lasting impact on us all,” Nasilele said.
