Rasmus Hojlund’s first Premier League goal of the season brought relief to Erik ten Hag as Manchester United secured a crucial 2-1 win over Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Brentford nearly gifted United a goal when goalkeeper Mark Flekken mishandled a cross aimed at Hojlund, but he recovered just in time to clear off the line.

Bruno Fernandes and Andre Onana also made key contributions, with Fernandes testing Flekken and Onana denying Christian Norgaard’s shot.

United’s hopes took a hit just before half-time when Ethan Pinnock headed in from a Mikkel Damsgaard corner, taking advantage of Matthijs de Ligt’s brief absence due to injury.

However, Alejandro Garnacho equalized with a back-post volley just two minutes into the second half from a Marcus Rashford cross.

The game turned on Hojlund’s decisive moment, as he skillfully finished off a backheel from Fernandes, lobbing Flekken to put United ahead.

Despite Brentford’s efforts, United held firm to secure the victory.

Elsewhere, Jordan Ayew’s late winner for Crystal Palace denied Southampton their first win of the season, as Leicester City mounted an impressive 3-2 comeback at St. Mary’s.

Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo put Southampton ahead, but a penalty converted by Jamie Vardy and Ayew’s stoppage-time strike gave Leicester the victory.

Bournemouth also delivered a shock, defeating Arsenal 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium, with goals from Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert.

Arsenal’s William Saliba was sent off in the first half, giving Bournemouth the advantage and securing the Gunners’ first defeat of the season.
