Canadian company reports positive results from Zambia’s Muntanga uranium project feasibility study

GoviEx Uranium, a Canadian mining company, has announced positive results from its feasibility study for the Muntanga uranium project, located in Zambia’s Southern Province.

The test work revealed uranium recoveries of 90 percent, highlighting the project’s strong potential.

The study, conducted in South Africa, showed high uranium recovery rates, low acid consumption and fast kinetic processing times, with most recoveries happening within just 20 days.

These results were shared in an update statement released by GoviEx on Thursday.

GoviEx’s Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Major, noted that these findings bolster the company’s goal of becoming a significant uranium producer through continued exploration and development of the Muntanga Project, which had already received mining permits.

“These positive test work results confirm the straightforward metallurgy at the Muntanga Project, improving the accuracy of results which will be used in our feasibility study, due before year-end,” Major stated.

“With high uranium recoveries of 90 percent or better for the Muntanga and Dibbwi East deposits and overall low acid consumption, the data provides further confidence in the project’s processing design, helping to refine key assumptions and parameters for the upcoming feasibility study,” he said.

The feasibility study aims to validate the technical and economic viability of the project.

Major explained that the company completed an extensive metallurgical test work programme at Mintek in South Africa, under the supervision of SGS Bateman Pty Limited and SRK Consulting (UK) Limited.

The Muntanga Project’s promising results could pave the way for the company to move forward with small-scale on-off leach pads as part of its future plans.

It was reported that GoviEx’s ultimate goal is to establish itself as a key player in the uranium industry by advancing the Muntanga Project and other mining ventures across Africa.
