Chipolopolo coach, Avram Grant, says his team is prepared for the Group G Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier against Chad, despite injuries to key players.
The match is set to take place this Friday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Zambia.
Grant expressed satisfaction with his squad’s performance in the absence of important players, citing their ability to score key goals in the previous match.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Grant said he was confident the replacements would rise to the occasion.
“To be honest, it’s not easy. Patson Daka, Stoppilla Sunzu, Lubambo Musonda, Edward Chilufya, and Lameck Banda were regular starters. But we have a big squad in camp for this reason,” Grant said.
He stated that the players selected for the match were capable and ready to prove themselves.
“The new players will do well. I can’t promise they won’t make mistakes, but I can promise they will give 100 percent,” Grant assured.
Meanwhile, Chad’s coach, Kevin Nicaise, noted the pressure was on Zambia to win the Group G qualifier, stating that it would be an embarrassment if Zambia failed to beat his team.
Speaking at the same press conference, Nicaise said, “It would be a great shame if Zambia does not beat Chad.”
Chad is fighting for second place in the group after Ivory Coast secured the top spot.
“We’re still in the race for qualification, even with one point from two games,” Nicaise said.
Chipolopolo captain Clatous Chama also called on fans to come out in full support for the match, emphasizing its importance.
“We want the fans to come in numbers and cheer us on,” Chama urged.
