Aston Villa and Manchester United played out a disappointing 0-0 draw at Villa Park on Sunday, leaving fans frustrated as both teams failed to capitalise on key chances.

The first opportunity of the match fell to Villa’s Morgan Rogers in the eighth minute, but he squandered the chance by shooting wide from inside the box.

Moments later, Jaden Philogene tried his luck from distance, narrowly missing the target.

Villa was forced into an early change when defender Ezri Konsa limped off, disrupting their backline.

At halftime, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag responded by making defensive substitutions, with Harry Maguire and Noussair Mazraoui coming off, aiming to add stability.

The second half saw more action, with Youri Tielemans forcing a great save from United goalkeeper Andre Onana. Earlier, Villa’s Emiliano Martinez had denied Marcus Rashford in a similar fashion, as both teams looked for a breakthrough.

Controversy struck when Villa fans voiced their anger after Rashford escaped a second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Leon Bailey, a decision that left many questioning the referee’s judgment.

In the 68th minute, United came closest to scoring when Bruno Fernandes’ dipping free-kick rattled the crossbar, testing Villa’s defense once more.

Despite this, neither side managed to find the back of the net.

Philogene had a chance to clinch a late winner for Villa in stoppage time, but his effort was blocked by Diogo Dalot, leaving both teams to settle for a point.

With the draw, Unai Emery’s Villa remained in fifth place with 14 points, while Manchester United dropped to 14th place with just eight points – their lowest tally after seven Premier League games in recent memory.
