Police officers have raided the residence of Nakonde Lawmaker Lukas Simuba early Saturday morning, reportedly as part of an ongoing investigation into an undisclosed matter.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Saturday, Zambia Police Service Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed that a search had been conducted at Simuba’s Nakonde home, emphasizing that the action was lawful and followed all necessary procedures.

“The search was executed in accordance with the law, and we ensured that all proper protocols were observed,” Hamoonga said.

He added that the investigation was still in progress and that officers were working diligently to gather all relevant information.

However, Hamoonga declined to provide further details at this stage, stating that doing so could compromise the investigation.

“To maintain the integrity of the investigation, we cannot disclose additional information at this time,” Hamoonga explained, assuring the public that updates would be provided as the case unfolds.

Hamoonga also called for calm, urging citizens to refrain from spreading rumors or unverified information.

“The Zambia Police Service remains committed to ensuring justice and upholding the rule of law,” he said.

Confirming the incident, Simuba posted on Facebook that police officers had raided his house in connection with his recent activities in the community.

“Current situation at my house in Nakonde, the police are here to search my house because I donated footballs and lunch for teachers yesterday on Teachers’ Day,” Simuba wrote.

The specifics of the investigation remained unclear, and it is yet to be determined whether the raid was directly linked to Simuba’s community involvement.

The public awaits further updates as investigations continue.
