Plainview Police have arrested three suspects linked to an aggravated robbery that occurred on Wednesday in the Garden Park area of Lusaka.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, identified the suspects as Joseph Kalomo, 26, Kelvin Daka, 24, and an 18-year-old male juvenile, all residing in the Garden House area.

In a statement issued on Friday, Hamoonga reported that the victims, Richard Bwalya, 35, of Garden Park, and Irene Habeenzu, 44, of Garden House, were robbed of items valued at K6,130.

“Richard Bwalya was returning home from a car park when he was confronted by the trio 700 meters from his house,” Hamoonga explained.

The suspects forced Bwalya to sit down and robbed him of K5,200 in cash, an Itel phone worth K380, and his driver’s license.

Meanwhile, two of the assailants also attacked Irene Habeenzu, who was passing by, stealing her mobile phone and inflicting a swollen forehead in the process.

Bwalya screamed for help after realizing the attackers were not law enforcement officers, prompting the criminals to flee.

In their haste, they abandoned military attire and one of their mobile phones.

Police tracked the suspects using the phone left at the scene and successfully apprehended all three.

A search of the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of Bwalya’s stolen phone, which would serve as key evidence in the case.
