The Pension and Insurance Authority (PIA) has called on the insurance sector to prioritise the recruitment of skilled and innovative professionals to stay ahead of rapid industry changes.

Speaking at the Insurance Industry Career Fair in Chongwe on Wednesday, PIA Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Namakau Ntini, stated the importance of adapting to shifts in government financial inclusion policies, technological advancements, changing consumer needs and global economic trends.

The event, held at Legacy Resort as part of the 2024 Insurance Week, aims to introduce young talents to diverse career opportunities in the insurance field.

“As we navigate these transformations, the demand for skilled and innovative professionals in the insurance industry becomes even more crucial. As regulators, we recognise that skills development will be a key driver of growth in the sector,” Ntini said.

“The evolving landscape of insurance, driven by financial inclusion strategies and technological progress, requires professionals who can innovate and adapt,” Ntini added.

Meanwhile, Insurers Association of Zambia (IAZ) President, Irene Muyenga, echoed the call for financial education.

She noted that informed financial decisions benefit both individuals and society and described the insurance industry as offering vast opportunities across marketing, law, public relations and more.
