The government has approved K4.2 million for the procurement of 2,800 school desks for Kanyama Constituency.
Nyambe Bulumba, the Lusaka City Council Assistant Public Relations Manager, stated that the funding, sourced from the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF), would benefit four wards: Chinika Ward 11, Munkolo Ward 15, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula Ward 12, and Kanyama Ward 13.
The desk allocations were as follows: Chinika Ward 11 received 1,125 desks, Munkolo Ward 15 got 638 desks, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula Ward 12 received 626 desks, and Kanyama Ward 13 would benefit from 411 desks.

Bulumba noted that this initiative addressed the persistent shortage of desks in government schools and supported the presidential directive ensuring no child sits on the floor during lessons.
“The Lusaka City Council is committed to completing all tender and procurement processes promptly to implement the project on time, allowing schools to benefit from this significant gesture,” Bulumba added.
