Police query, warn, release fugitive, Banda’s sister as runaway lawmaker remains wanted

Pauline Banda, sister of fugitive Petauke Central lawmaker Emmanuel Banda, has been warned and cautioned by the police for the offense of conspiracy to commit a crime.

According to Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, issuing a warn and caution Statement was standard procedure for individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities.

Hamoonga said in statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday that this did not imply guilt, as the matter was still under investigation.

The offense, which falls under Section 394 of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia, pertains to conspiracy to commit a crime—a primary offense codified in Zambian law.

“Mrs. Banda has been released,” Hamoonga said.

He further assured the public that the Zambia Police Service was committed to upholding the rule of law and handling all cases with professionalism and fairness.
