Joshua Zirkzee marked his Manchester United debut with a decisive 87th-minute goal, securing a 1-0 victory over Fulham in the Premier League opener at Old Trafford on Friday.
The US$47 million acquisition from Bologna showed his quality by converting Alejandro Garnacho’s cross into the net.
Zirkzee was joined by Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt in making their debuts for United.

Despite Zirkzee’s recent fitness concerns and Rasmus Højlund’s injury absence, United played without a recognized striker.
This lack of attacking depth was evident as Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes squandered key opportunities.
Fulham’s Bernd Leno made several crucial saves, including two excellent stops against Fernandes in one-on-one situations.
However, Leno was unable to prevent Zirkzee’s late strike, which found the far corner of the net.
In the final moments, Garnacho had a chance to double United’s lead but missed an open shot. The first half ended goalless, with Fernandes’ mishit shot a missed opportunity for United to take the lead earlier.
Zirkzee’s late goal earned Erik ten Hag’s side a hard-fought three points to start their Premier League campaign.
