Anti-graft agency, DEC, summons Tasila, Lungu’s daughter, over alleged money laundering probe

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has summoned Tasila Lungu, daughter of former President Edgar Lungu, to appear for questioning at their headquarters on Thursday.

Tasila, married to Patrick Mwansa, was requested to present herself at the Commission’s Anti-Money Laundering office, as stated in a letter delivered to her Lusaka residence on Wednesday.

The summons followed accusations that a joint operations team from the DEC and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) surrounded the residence of the former President while he and his wife were present.

However, DEC Public Relations Officer, Allan Tamba, refuted these claims in a statement issued the same day.

Tamba clarified that DEC officers visited Mrs. Mwansa’s residence, located at property Number F/4142/9/14/P- Farm behind the Economic Zone (MFEZ) in Chifwema, to serve a call-out under warrant.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a security guard from Corvus Security who, after initially cooperating, refused to accept the call-out following a consultation with an unidentified individual.

The officers subsequently left the call-out in a sealed envelope under the gate before departing.
