PF faction leader, Sampa, faces contempt charges for allegedly accusing judiciary of being manipulated

Patriotic Front (PF) faction president, Miles Sampa, is facing contempt of court charges after accusing the judiciary of being manipulated by his Secretary-General, Morgan Ng’ona, and associates.

Ng’ona had petitioned the Lusaka High Court to initiate committal proceedings against Sampa and his deputy media director, Hamasamu Hingandu.

The dispute began when Ng’ona challenged Sampa’s expulsion from the party and his role as Secretary-General.

Sampa counterclaimed, seeking to overturn his removal as a party member and president.

Ng’ona is pushing for the imprisonment of Sampa and Hingandu over their contemptuous statements.

They alleged that Lewis Mosho, managing partner at Lewis Nathan Advocates, representing Ng’ona, had manipulated the judiciary using deceptive tactics and fraudulent documents.

Ng’ona detailed that after Robert Chabinga’s application to replace Sampa as a defendant was adjourned, Sampa publicly accused Mosho of deceitful practices on July 10, 2024.

Despite being aware of the judiciary’s independence, Sampa allegedly made these statements maliciously.

It is claimed that, on the next day, Hingandu similarly accused the judiciary of fraudulent behavior, further undermining its integrity.

Ng’ona argued that these actions not only disrespect the court but also attack the dignity and credibility of Zambia’s judicial system.

Ng’ona asserted that the likelihood of success in the committal proceedings against Sampa and Hingandu was substantial.
