Samukonga’s 400m win keeps Zambia’s olympic medal hopes alive

Team Zambia still has hope of winning a medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics.

Prolific sprinter Muzala Samukonga won the Men’s 400 metre Heat 3 race with a time of 44.56 seconds to qualify for the semifinals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Samukonga, who was seen easily cruising towards the finish line, recorded the second victory for Team Zambia at the games.

In second place was Botswana’s Bayapo Ndori, who clocked 44.87 seconds, while Italy’s Luca Sito finished third.

The victory means Samukonga had qualified for the semifinals, scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

Samukonga was Zambia’s last remaining hope for a medal after other athletes in different disciplines were eliminated.
