PF accuses UPND members of deliberately peddling falsehoods to receive funding from party leaders

The Edgar Lungu-led Patriotic Front (PF) has accused certain United Party for National Development (UPND) members of leveraging political accusations against the PF to secure funding from their leaders.

Emmanuel Mwamba, Faction Chairperson for Information and Publicity, revealed in an interview with Zambia Monitor on Friday that some opportunistic UPND members falsely blame the PF for government wrongdoings to obtain money from their leaders.

Mwamba said that the PF had no involvement in the recent booing of President Hakainde Hichilema and his entourage, attributing such actions to frustrated citizens disillusioned with government lies.

“These are UPND’s well-calculated schemes to create violence during national events and accuse the PF of violence when, in fact, it’s their own doing to fund their activities,” said the former diplomat.

He assured that the PF had no intention of booing the Head of State during the opening of the Agriculture and Commercial Show in Lusaka on Saturday, August 3, with Burundian counterpart Evariste Ndayishimiye.

Mwamba stressed that the show was a national event deserving of support from all well-meaning Zambians.

“Some UPND members are becoming known for accusing the PF of their failures to extort money from their leaders,” Mwamba stated.

He called on the UPND to cease such schemes and allow the public to attend events without fear.

Additionally, Mwamba welcomed Burundian President Ndayishimiye to Zambia, affirming that despite differing political ideologies, Zambia remained a peaceful nation.
